Jacob Karp, 85 years of age, of West Hartford died Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Aaron and Hilda (Platt) Karp. He was a US Marine veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the local Masons Union for over 30 years. Upon retirement he continued working with LAZ Parking for the last 23 years. Jacob was the loving husband of Shirley (Hyman) Karp; beloved father of, George S. Karp and his wife Denise of Lake Zurich, IL, David W. Karp and his wife Lea of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Jeffery N. Karp and his wife Jill of Wayland, MA; cherished grandfather of Danielle, Michael, Adam, Rachel, Aaron, Benjamin, Samuel and Daniel Karp; and devoted brother of Ruth Sloate of Bloomfield. He was predeceased by five brothers, Henry Karp, Morris Karp, Louis Karp, George Karp and Saul A. Karp, and by two sisters, Miriam Berman and Claire Karp. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, East Granby. Immediately following the interment, please join the family at the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford 06117. A memorial period will be observed at 11 Henley Way, West Hartford, CT on Sat. 7-9 pm and Sun. 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
