I studied with Mrs. Glazier (I could never get used to calling her Joan) at Hartt School of Music during my Senior year of High School, and then for five years after, when I was accepted into the Music Education program at Hartt. Mrs. Glazier was the most wonderful, patient teacher (well, except when I messed up my German or Italian), and I so appreciate all the help and guidance she gave me during my time there. She taught me so much and opened doors for me that I never expected to open.
After graduation we kept in touch a bit, but then I moved to Vermont and I lost touch with her. That was a great disappointment, but I only had myself to blame. She was never far from my thoughts though, in fact just the other day she was on my mind. I pray she rests in peace and enjoys her place in God's choir.

Dear Len ,
My deepest sympathies to you and all your children and grandchildren on the
passing of Joan .
Joan was a most dear friend . When I was a new faculty member at Hartt in 1955 ,
I knew Joan in her early days as a student . Joan loved the Hartt School and devoted
so much of her life to the Hartt students . Eventually , she was a fantastic faculty member and academic advisor and saw at least 1000 Hartt students their first day as
freshman to their graduation . Joan had a beautiful voice and I will never forget how lovely she sang Gounod's Ava Maria for my wife Carolyn's funeral many years ago .

God bless you Joan

Dear Glazier Family, We were so saddened to hear of Joan's passing. As long as I can remember she was a lovely, smiling face at the Emanuel and in the community at large. I enjoyed talking to her of family and hearing stories of her Dad who was a friend of my father's. May she rest in piece and may her memory be a blessing to you all. Judy and Hal Mooney.

Lenny, Bonny, and Family - What a wonderful woman she was! I fondly enjoyed getting to know Joan through voice lessons starting at Hartt's Community Division. She was so generous with her teaching and support of so many over the years - and I enjoyed her friendship and our chats after lessons.

What a loss to the family that loved her dearly. And her love of you all was so evident in every one of our conversations - I got to know each of you and how very proud she was of all of you.

Our thoughts and love go out to all of you,
Betsy and Greg Chicares

With fond memories of sitting beside you every Thursday night at choir practice and every Sunday morning in church as we sang at United Methodist Church of Hartford for roughly twenty years. Many rich and musical memories.

In the early 2000s, I was an adult student of Joan's - a member of the Hartford community with an interest in learning vocal technique. I was a mature music student though a beginner as a vocalist. I always looked forward to and enjoyed my lessons with Joan, and though I no longer study voice remember her wise vocal and musical guidance. I was privileged to know her.

To the entire Glazier Family: I worked with Joan at Hartt for many years. Her commitment to our students was immeasurable. Her passion for the arts was contagious and the students thrived because of Joan. Her presence is still felt and always will be in the hallways at Hartt. She has left a legacy that will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathy to her beloved family, whom she spoke with with such admiration and often. RIP Joan.
