Joan (Michelson) White, 69, of West Hartford, passed away on October 28, 2005 at The McLean Center in Simsbury following a brief illness. Joan was born January 4, 1936 to the late Mitzi Lurie Michelson and William Michelson and was raised in Hartford, Manchester and West Hartford. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Harvey M. White of West Hartford; her daughter Randi L. White of Boston, MA; her son Attorney Andrew S. White and his wife Attorney Maria Chiarelli of Hamden; and two grandsons, Joseph and Andrew White. Joan was a graduate of Hall High School, Central Connecticut State University and was an educator throughout her life. She was employed by the West Hartford and Hartford School Systems, the Farmington and West Hartford Continuing Education programs, and as a docent at the Wadsworth Atheneum. She pursued her passion for the creation of art objects, her career taking her works to be exhibited in galleries and exhibitions in Connecticut, New York City and other locations across the United States. Her smile brightened and lifted those who knew her and loved her. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi David Small officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 73 Avondale Road, West Hartford, Tuesday following the funeral through Wednesday evening.
