Joel E. Rosenblatt, D.D.S., 74, of Jupiter, FL, formerly of Bloomfield, CT, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 after a brief illness. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Harry and Frances (Hershkovitz) Rosenblatt. He graduated from the Mount Hermon School, from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Psychology, and with a D.D.S. from New York University School of Dentistry.
A Captain in the U.S. Army during the late ‘60’s, he opened his dental practice in Hartford, servicing the Blue Hills community and surrounding areas for over 37 years. He was a member of the Connecticut Dental Association as well as the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
Honored for his dedication to Beth Hillel Synagogue and community, he founded its nursery school and chaired the Board of Education and Adult Education committees. President of Jewish Children’s Service Organization, he was also soccer coach for the Bloomfield Junior Soccer Association.
His passions during his retirement years ran the gamut, from golf, gardening, and grandchildren to politics and world affairs, continued education, and the UConn Huskies.
He leaves his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Adrienne (Udis) Rosenblatt; his daughter Julie Zieff and husband Eric of Beverly, MA; his son Lenny Rosenblatt and husband Kofi Kyeremateng of Rahway, NJ; his grandchildren Matthew and Emily Zieff; and his sister Susan Newman and husband Mickey of Evanston, IL. He also leaves cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and many devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with interment in Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Joni and Dan Fine, 10 Cliffmore Rd., West Hartford.
