Perlroth

Obituary

Jordan Louis Perlroth, 83, of Avon, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 11, 2016. He was born in New Haven, and was the son of the late Abraham and Dina (Kaufman) Perlroth. Jordan leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Elaine (Ger) Perlroth; his son, Davis B. Perlroth and his wife Sarah of Suffield; his daughter, Karen Dee and her husband the Hon. David Dee of Avon; his grandchildren, Jason Perlroth and his fiancée Melody Serafino, Jennifer Abraham and her husband Ryan, Joshua Dee and his wife Gio, Mya Woodard and her husband Bill. Jordan was also predeceased by his sister, Bernice Friedman. In addition to his loving family, Jordan leaves behind his sister-in-law, Marlene D’Ercole and her husband Tom Casey, several nieces and nephews and beloved cousin, Nancy Berman. The entire family would also like to express a heartfelt thank you to devoted home care provider Natalia Prevo, as well as McLean Hospice and Dr. Jones and staff. Without a doubt, Jordan had a deep affection for many people and was loved by all. Jordan met his soulmate, Elaine, at the age of 19. Throughout their wonderful 63 years they traveled the world and created a wonderful family and life together. Jordan was a passionate family man. His love was felt by many, not just his family. Jordan loved talking with everyone and always had a smile to give. He truly epitomized the American dream; he worked hard and achieved great success. A handshake was his given word. Jordan was a true gentleman. He began his career at a variety store in New Haven before becoming the owner of Ger Oil for 50 years. Besides building a successful career with his wife by his side, he enjoyed watching horse racing and was an avid fan of New York teams, the Mets and Jets, as well as UConn basketball. Jordan loved life and will undoubtedly be deeply missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at his home, 44 Hitchcock Lane, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Jordan Perlroth or Poppy as I know him was one of the kindest individuals you would ever meet. If there is one thing to be said about him it is that his only fault was that he was too generous. He would give you the shirt off his back even if he needed it. His love for his family was unparalleled. The way he lived his life should be emulated by all of us.

Being friends with Jordan and his Elaine over the years were always a pleasant experience for myself, Jean and all our children. We will miss our conversations with Jordan; He was indeed a gentleman and will be missed.
