BYER, Joseph A. Byer, 69, West Hartford and Boca Raton, FL died Saturday, July 16, 2005. Born in Norwich, he was the son of the late Jacob and Helen (Sussman) Byer. He attended the University of Connecticut and Boston University. Mr. Byer was the former president and owner of Carey Wiping Materials Corporation in New Britain, the oldest and largest wiping cloth manufacturer in CT. He was a past president of IAWCM, the International Trade Association. He was an ardent ‘catch and release’ fly fisherman and an avid golfer. He was beloved husband of Elizabeth (Barton) Byer; loving father of Kenneth M. Byer and his partner Anthony Michalak of Berlin; Karen Silberman and her husband Don of Sharon, MA; Deborah Bucklan and her husband Lane of Wilton; adoring grandfather of Scott and Brian Silberman and Emma and Cooper Bucklan; brother of Alan Byer and his wife Marilyn of West Hartford; son-in-law of Sylvia Barton of West Hartford; and he leaves his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Anita and William Mancoll of West Hartford. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at his home, 12 Ironwood Lane, West Hartford Tuesday following the funeral through Sunday evening.
