Joseph Savitt, 81 years of age, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of West Hartford, died Thursday, July 30, 2009. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Kramer) Savitt. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Morris and Celia (Rosenblatt) Savitt. He was a US Army War Vetern of World War II. Joe was a painting contractor in the greater Hartford area until he retired. He was a member of Temple Sinai of Newington.
He leaves two sons: Mark Savitt and his wife Lisa of Bristol, and Dr. Charles Savitt of Clinton; and a daughter, Susan Savitt of Clinton; his grandchildren, Matthew and Erik Delahanty, and Rachel Savitt; his sister, Libby Pearl and her husband Bennett of West Hartford; his brother-in-law, William Kramer and his wife Lois; his sisters-in-law, Sallye Katrosar, Rose Madnick and her husband Bert, and Harriet Meisel and her husband Harry; and his companion, Rosalind Sloane. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Pearl Kramer, and Joseph Katrosar.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary of Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd., Newington. Interment will follow in Temple Sinai Memorial Park behind the Temple. A memorial period will be observed Sunday following the funeral through Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter, 5 Elmwood Way, Clinton 06413.
