Joseph Spielman, 91, of 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, CT died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Hebrew Home & Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn, and was formerly married to Hermine (Gutlohn) Spielman. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Morris and Rachel (Goldfarb) Spielman. He graduated from Amherst College, Class of 1935, and lived most of his life in New Jersey and North Carolina, before moving to Connecticut. Mr. Spielman was president of Spielman & Co., a drug sundries wholesaler in Clifton, NJ, before he retired. He leaves his daughter, Jan Rosow and her husband Norman of Avon, CT; his two sons, Jon Spielman and his special friend Vicki Drimer of Palm Beach, FL, and Ralph Spielman and his wife Fran of New York, NY; his brother, Milton Spielman and his wife Sue of West Orange, NJ; five grandchildren, Eric Rosow and his wife Pam, Daniel Rosow and his fiancée Robin Kennison, Andy Spielman, Michael Spielman and his wife Laurie, and Jesse Spielman; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-sons, Mark Bernstein and his wife Louise of Charlotte, NC, and Larry Bernstein and his wife Johanna of Malibu, CA. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Spielman, and by his step-son, Edward Bernstein. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at the Hebrew Home & Hospital, especially Isis Thomas, Rainey Ayala, Carmen Stephens, Dr. Emre Notoroglu, and nurses, Theresa, Susan, Denise, and Mary; also to his dearest friends, Delroy Bennett and Carol D?Arche. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, 2007 at Hebrew Cemetery in Charlotte, NC. A memorial period will be observed at the home of his daughter at 10 Acorn Glen, Avon, CT, Sunday 5-8 pm and Monday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
