Jules

Fialkoff

Obituary

Jules Fialkoff, 85, of West Hartford, CT and Deerfield Beach, FL, born in Queens, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 20, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late June (Brenner) Fialkoff. He is predeceased by his parents, the late Murray and Anna Fialkoff, and sister Barbara Blacksberg. Jules leaves his four children, Brian Fialkoff of West Hartford; Kim and Xavier Vorilhon of Simsbury; Glenn and Cheryl Fialkoff of South Windsor, and Francine and Peter Armstrong of Simsbury. Jules’s passion for flying was surpassed only by his love of his 11 grandchildren; Valerie and Spencer Fialkoff, William, Alexandre and Nicolas Vorilhon, Alana, Michael and Jacob Fialkoff, and Chelsea, Benjamin, and Cameron Armstrong. A Korean War, era Naval veteran, served on the USS Salem. He attended Boston University and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University in Physical Education. Jules had a prosperous career in sales, and dedicated his free time to his children and grandchildren, travel, and hobbies. Realizing a childhood dream, he achieved his pilot’s license at 50. A member of the Civil Air Patrol, and a lover of the Boston Red Sox and all pro Boston sports, Jules inspired his grandchildren to share that same passion. Funeral services will be held at Weinstein Mortuary on Friday, January 27th, at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Jules’s name be made to the following organizations: Autism Families of Connecticut, Autism Families CONNECTicut (www.autismfamiliesct.org) or the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut Inc.(www.epilepsyct.com) or Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (www.connecticutchildrens.org). I want to express my deepest sympathy, for the loss of your dearly departed Father. We will miss the talks, time at the beach and breaking of the Bread. But most of all, the friendship. Your father was a great man and we were lucky to have know him. God bless you all through this difficult time.

Our very deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of Jules' family -- he was such a wonderful gentleman, and we can only imagine how much you will miss him. We have such great memories of the many years when Ben and Jules flew together from Brainerd Airport to Nantucket and many other destinations ... our mutual involvement in the Friends of Connecticut Aviation, and all the safely seminars at Robertson Airport. It was always such a pleasure to be in Jules' company -- we shared so many great times together. Now, may he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing and a source of strength to all who knew and loved him.

My sincere condolences to Jules' family. I loved being his flying pal and sharing flying to nowhere in particular. He really thrived when he was flying. I'll miss the incredible gentleman who always asked about me, my Mom, cared so much about others. He always spoke about his family, loved them more than anything and was always so proud of them all. I'd see Jules in the neighborhood, always with a big smile and warm hug. I wish everyone could be more like Jules, he was a rare and wonderful human being.

Jules and I go back many years as he was a sales rep who conversed with me regarding a variety of literacy issues. A great man who will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts are with the extended Fialkoff family on the loss of their beloved father and grandfather Jules. We enjoyed the years when we were neighbors and our kids were growing up. One memory was our trip on his boat when Devora got seasick, swam to an island, was bitten by jellyfish and then got poison ivy from the island vegetation! Jules was always calm and full of good humor in all situations.
