Leah G. Wiener, 87, passed away on Tuesday (March 27, 2006) at Seabury Health Care in Bloomfield. Daughter of the late Kate and Harry Glasser, she lived in Hartford and West Hartford. Her husband Irving Wiener predeceased her. She worked at the Aetna Life and Insurance Company for many years, retiring in 1985. In her retirement, she volunteered for the Red Cross and the Hebrew Home and Hospital and pursued her interests in travel and gardening. She also took college courses, something she didn’t have time to do earlier in her life. Leah will long be remembered for her great humor and how she made others laugh. She was a devoted mother to Merle and David Harris of West Hartford and Eric and LouAnn Wiener of Harrisburg, PA, and a loving grandmother to Jonathan Harris, Rebecca Selig, Adam and Ross Wiener, and Dava Yanoff. She leaves eight great-grandchildren. Her sisters Beatrice Goldberg Cohn and Muriel Rosenblit also predeceased her. Seabury was her home for eight years and the family thanks the staff for the attention and care they gave to her. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, TODAY, Wednesday, March 29, at 1:00 p.m., with Rabbi David J.Small officiating. Interment will follow at the Emanuel Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will observe Shiva Wednesday through Friday afternoon, at the home of her daughter, 71 Emily Way, West Hartford.
