Leonard Albert Neistat, 86 years of age, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Newington, CT, died Thursday, January 30, 2014. Born in Hartford, CT on Dec. 20, 1927 to the late Sam and Mary (Smuckler) Neistat, and predeceased by his sister, Shirley, Leonard leaves behind his loving wife of over 59 years, Eleanor “Ellie” (Felman), sons, Mark (Julie) and Jeffrey (Maritza), and grandchildren, Hali, Benjamin, Samantha, Olivia, Raymond, and Alexandra. He also leaves his sister, Ruth (Alan) Whitman. A 1945 graduate of Weaver High School, Leonard served in the US Army, graduated from Bentley School of Accounting in Boston and from the University of Hartford, Cum Laude. He was a member of the Connecticut society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of CPAs and was a Partner in the accounting firm of Kostin, Neistat, Ruffkess, Ratner and Gerrol. Leonard and Ellie made their home in Newington where they raised their two sons and later retired to Boynton Beach, Florida. A man of few words and a good sense of humor, Leonard was adored by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Road, Newington, CT with Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Sinai Memorial Park. A memorial period will be observed after interment in the social hall at Temple Sinai.
