BUSH, Linda J. (Lipman) Linda J. (Lipman) Bush, of Lincoln Lane, Simsbury, died Wednesday, (March 23, 2011), surrounded by her loving family. Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Sylvia (Meyers) Lipman. Linda graduated from Queens College in 1968, and received a first Masters in Spanish at the University of Michigan in 1969. She taught at Mabel Dean Bacon Vocational High School in Manhattan, NY, and after moving to Connecticut, she taught Spanish at Avon High School. Linda left teaching to raise her daughters, but being a lover of learning and adolescents, she went back for a second Masters in Guidance Counseling at Central Connecticut State University. She worked at both the Sports Academy Magnet School and Dr. Joseph J. Bellizzi Middle School in Hartford, as well as Torrington High School, touching the lives of many adolescents. She was a longtime volunteer Academic Advisor and member of the Board of Directors at the ABC House in Simsbury. She was also a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford. She leaves her devoted husband, Dr. Paul Bush; two daughters, Joelle Bush and Lexie Yang, and her son-in-law, Larry, all of Massachusetts; her sister, Shelly Goldschlag and her husband George of Florida; and her brother, Charles Barry Lipman of New York; as well as her niece, Dacey Sands, daughter of her late sister, Karen Lipman Sands, of New York. Linda also leaves behind beloved extended family, and a tremendous circle of friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 1 p.m., in the Sanctuary of Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson St. Ext., Avon. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 19 Lincoln Lane, Simsbury (Weatogue), Sunday following the funeral through Monday evening, 6:30-9:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Simsbury ABC, Inc.”, the Linda Bush Academics Fund, and should be mailed to Simsbury ABC, Inc., P.O.
