Lisa passed peacefully in the early morning hours of July 10, 2024. Lisa was a gift to all who knew her; she made us laugh, and was always the life of the party. Lisa loved music, and she was down for lots of hand clapping, dancing and fun. Lisa was Cyndi Lauper’s greatest fan and Cyndi’s music could always make Lisa smile. Lisa did lots of smiling, she loved her group home friends who were her “family”. To know Lisa was to know the sparkle she got in her eyes when you spoke with her and spent time with her. Hannah was one of her favorites, if not her favorite human. The two had a connection like no other, they laughed at the same things and had a love language that was apparent every time they interacted, whether by phone, FaceTime or in person. Lisa’s family regularly attended the annual holiday party at her group home, and the one year that all of her nieces and nephews could attend, she did not stop smiling for 3 hours.
Lisa loved dogs as well. At the end of Lisa’s life, with as much suffering as she endured, it appeared that she was able to feel love and joy when she was visited in the hospital by her sister’s dog, Rocky. Rocky was a constant in Lisa’s life, whether by outside visits during Covid, or FaceTime phone calls, or, at the end of her life, in the hospital. Lisa also grew up with a dog, Suzette, who she talked about every day. Movies, Broadway Shows, Fairs, concerts and anything that has to do with music was Lisa’s favorite pastime. She also loved shopping, getting her nails and hair done, going to Carvel, and going to restaurants. We will miss spending time with Lisa doing all the things she loved doing; and she never forgot to say “Thank you” at least a hundred times, followed by lots of kisses.
Lisa’s smile, laugh, fun and loving spirit will be missed beyond measure. Those who had the pleasure and honor to know her, love her and be with her, will always hold Lisa close to their hearts.
Rest in paradise Aunt Lisa, may you be surrounded by rubber duckies, music, mom, dad, Suzette, Rosie and all of your friends who have predeceased you.
