Obituary

Marcia (Kurtz) Polinsky, 87 years of age, of West Hartford died Tuesday, November 15, 2016. She was the widow of Bernard Polinsky. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Max and Jennie (Rose) Kurtz.

She was a member of Beth El Temple of Torrington. Marcia was a graduate of Weaver High School, class of 1946. She met Bernard Polinsky and was married in 1951, beginning their life together in Jewett City, CT. In 1960, Marcia and Bernie moved to Norfolk, CT where they purchased a local hardware store which they operated for over 30 years, working side by side. Following Bernie’s death in 1990, Marcia moved to West Hartford to be close to her family. Throughout her life Marcia was unceasingly devoted to her children and grandchildren, spending many hours enjoying time with her family at gatherings, recitals or events.

She leaves her children, Jeffrey Polinsky and his wife Karen of Avon, Eric Polinsky and his wife Jill of Avon, and Terri P. Kovacs and her husband Leonard of Charlestown, RI; her brother, Norman Kurtz and his wife Barbara of West Hartford; and seven grandchildren: Jason Kovacs, Stacy Kovacs, Emily Polinsky, Rachel Polinsky, Samantha Polinsky, Brett Polinsky and Alex Polinsky.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2016 in the Chapel of Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson Street Extension, Avon. Shiva will be observed Friday immediately following the funeral, resuming Saturday evening after 6:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm at the home of Jeffrey Polinsky, 242 Cold Spring Road, Avon, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or Avon Dollars for Scholars. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
