Marilyn Lassow, 89, of Manchester, CT, died on July 18, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on March 28,1935 in Windham, Connecticut to Carl and Esther Frankel. She was married to Gordon Lassow on June 16, 1956 at Grand Lake Lodge in Lebanon, Connecticut. The Lassows’ lived in Hebron, Connecticut before purchasing their family home in Manchester, Connecticut, where Marilyn lived until 2023. Marilyn graduated from Eastern Connecticut State College with her bachelor’s degree and then went on to complete her Master’s at St. Joseph College. Marilyn was a Special Education teacher at Horace Porter Elementary until she retired in 1997. Marilyn was an adoring mother and grandmother with a fire for making her community a better place. She was a devoted member of her temple, Beth Sholom B’nai Israel. Marilyn poured into those within the community as a leader of many synagogue events, keeper of their gardens, and an advocate for education within the younger temple population. Anyone lucky enough to know her would know these three things for certain; as sweet as she could be, sass often followed, her favorite place to be was with her family or in the mountains hiking, and most importantly, she was a fierce cheerleader for all who she loved. Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Lassow (1996); her son, Jay Lassow (1998); and her daughter in law, Laura Lassow (2020). Marilyn will be missed by her loving family which includes her sons; Michael and his wife, Marta Lassow, Lee Lassow and his partner, Jeanne Piccuito; her four grandchildren, Avital, Benjamin, Aaron Lassow, and Jake Piccuito; her siblings, Warren Frankel, Sharon Horrocks, and Meyer Frankel; and her five nieces and nephews. Grief is simply love with no place to go. If that is true, then grief, in and of itself, is somewhat a beautiful thing. May we count it pure joy then, to have had the chance to love once, even if who we loved is gone.” Unknown
