Marion Woolwitch, born on January 28, 1931, of West Hartford, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Bess (Gordon) Quint and the late Edward Quint. Marion received her bachelor’s degree in Physics from Simmons College in Boston. She spent most of her career as an actuarial assistant at CIGNA.
Marion was predeceased by her husband Samuel Levine in 1973 and her husband Ronald Woolwitch in 2010. She leaves three children, their spouses, and six grandchildren: Barry Levine, his wife Carole and their children Daniel and Jessica of Canton, MI; Nancy Levine, her husband Steven Humphrey and their children Michael and Katherine of Warren, NJ; and Alan Levine, his wife Joyce and their children Samantha and Matthew of Westwood, MA. She is survived by her brother Robert Quint of Jamaica, NY and his children Alex, Erica, and Fred. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws Sara Rosenthal and Sylvia Gordon, her brother-in-law Jack Gordon and many nieces and nephews.
Marion’s greatest joy was sharing in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She treasured her friendships, fortunate to have friends who cared for her as she did them. Marion had a passion for Mah Jongg, was an avid reader, and exercised regularly at the Cornerstone Pool. She was a fan for many years of the UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and got her children to root for them too.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11 AM with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth Hillel Cemetery, East Granby. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Hartford Senior Center – Bishops Corner, Susan G.
