Marshall Wetstone, 75, currently of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of Harry and Evelyn (Silver) Wetstone, formerly of West Hartford. Marshall was born in Hartford and lived in the Hartford and West Hartford, areas most of his life. He attended Hall High School and the University of Connecticut, as well as serving in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked alongside his father Harry Wetstone, Uncle Julius Wetstone and Cousin Norden Wetstone at the family tobacco and potato farm in East Longmeadow, MA. Marshall was President of Wetstone Enterprises, Inc. and managing partner of NMB Wetstone. During his years in the tobacco business he served on the board of directors of the Shade Tobacco Growers Association. He served on several PTA-PTO boards in West Hartford. Marshall was a former member of the Emanuel Synagogue, West Hartford and Temple Beth Israel, West Hartford, as well as a former member of Tumble Brook Country Club, Bloomfield and current member of Wampanoag Country Club, West Hartford. His passions were golf and spending time with his family. He was a contributor to many local and national charities. Marshall is survived by his wife Rosilyn (Friedland) Wetstone of Bloomfield. He is also survived by his four children: Dr. Andrew Wetstone and his wife Leslie of Longmeadow, MA; Kenneth Wetstone of San Diego, CA, Terri Wetstone of Simsbury, Bradford Wetstone and his fiancé Caryn Hoadley both of San Francisco, CA. He was also the best Grampy Marshall to his two surviving grandchildren: Rachel Wetstone, 10, and Evan Wetstone, 8, both of Longmeadow, MA. Marshall also left several cousins behind including: Norden and Nancy Wetstone of Esprey, FL, Barrie and Harriet Wetstone of Avon, Dr. Howard and Rowen Wetstone of Bloomfield, David and Dorothy Wetstone of Farmington, Eugene and Jean Mazo of West Hartford, Bernie and Esther Goldstein of Norwich, Morris and Ellen Banks of Bloomfield, Roberta Feldman of Hilton Head, SC, and Brian Weiss of West Hartford. He also was truly fond of and will be missed by Robert and Dr. Melissa Friedland of Potomac, MD, Scott and Laurie Friedland of Chappaqua, NY, Andrew and Rachel Friedland of San Francisco, CA, and Glenn Friedland of Greensboro, NC. The family would like to thank VNA Healthcare and Hospice for their care and support during this most difficult time. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Friday, February 24, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Howard Herman officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. A Memorial Period will be observed at the home of Rosilyn Wetstone, 12 Kensington Park at Balbrae Condominiums in Bloomfield through Sunday evening, and Monday night at the home of his son Dr. Andrew Wetstone at 244 Ellington Rd., Longmeadow, MA.
