Marvin Lewtan, of West Hartford, CT died peacefully on October 10th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poland and then, after a few years in Cuba, he spent most of his life in the Hartford area. He was the beloved partner for 16 years of Nicolette Wernick. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 37 years, Jane Sodokoff Lewtan. He leaves behind three children, Susan Lewtan Langberg and her husband Glenn of Short Hills, NJ, Stuart Lewtan and his wife Lisa of Weston, MA, and Douglas Lewtan and his wife Liz of Simsbury, CT. He was adored by his nine grandchildren George, Diana, and Jack Langberg, Lexi, Tyler, and Devin Lewtan, and Jake, Jane, and Jeffery Lewtan who lovingly called him “Marvino”. He is also survived by his sister Lillian Lewtan of Bloomfield. Marvin was the chairman of Lewtan Industries, an advertising specialties company that he founded with his predeceased brother Robert in 1947. He was a lifetime member of Beth El Temple and was proud to be involved in numerous local philanthropic causes. He loved golf, art, dancing, and listening to music. His love of life was contagious and his smile could light up a room.
The funeral will take place on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00 am at Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford with burial to follow at Beth EL Temple Cemetery, Avon. The family will be receiving friends and family at the Lewtan home in West Hartford immediately following the ceremony and on Tuesday 4-7pm.
