Dear Shirley and family, I was very saddened to hear about the news of our friend Melvin. May God give you the strength to endure and to overcome in difficult times. The first time I met Melvin was in 1981 at his old office on S. Highland St., West Hartford. We connected from this moment. He loved to learn and started coming to class at the old Chabad House, and attended every Chabad event, and started to support Chabad very generously. He become the first Chabad president and organized the Chabad board. He was part of the growth and development, and had great joy to see it happening. He loved the children's programs, specially the Chabad summer, Camp Gan Israel and supported the camp in many ways.
Mel was a community minded person and he saw the the bigger picture of the community, which gave him the ability to be involved in many community institutions.
He was very kind, caring person, to each one individually.
Mel was on the board of many community institutions and was an active member on any board he served. His memory will serve as model for many of us and a blessing to the family and friends.
