Mildred

((Jackson))

Weinstein

Obituary

Mildred (Jackson) Weinstein, age 92, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mildred was the daughter of the late Bertha and Morris Jackson, and sister of Esther Sohn and the late Ruth, Sam, and Ralph Jackson. She resided in West Hartford with her husband David H. Weinstein, DDS, who died in 2011. For the past five years, she was a resident of Brookdale Chatfield Senior Living.

Mildred grew up in New Britain, attended business school, and, for over fifty years, served as the business manager for the Hartford dental practice of her beloved husband. She was the proud mother of five children and their spouses: Sharon Weinstein, MD, Lincoln, MA, Susan Cinner (Peter Cinner, DDS), Leverett, MA, Eliot Weinstein (Marcy Aronson), NYC, Mark Weinstein (Nancy Belliveau Weinstein), and Arnold Weinstein, DMD (Laura Bennett Weinstein), Glastonbury, CT. She was the cherished grandmother of Shira, Max, Ariel, and Daniel Weinstein, and Juliana Cinner, and step-grandmother of Josh Cinner, PhD (fiancé Michele Barnes) and Verne Bennett.

Mildred will always be remembered for her deep caring and love for family and friends. She was adored and cherished by all those she touched. She was known for her kindness, intelligence, warmth, gentle humor, optimism, modesty, loyalty, and generosity of spirit. She loved attending weekly Torah study and the Sage Program for seniors at Congregation Beth Israel, where she assumed the honored role of leading the blessing before the meals. Her children and grandchildren will always remember joyous family gatherings with her, marked by singing, music, dancing and, especially, her unrivaled chicken soup and other culinary specialties. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 25, 2016, in the Chapel of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Interment will follow at the Beth Israel Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon, CT. Following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends back at Congregation Beth Israel from 1:00pm-4:00pm. For further information, directions, or to sign the guest book for Mildred, please visit the website at www.weinsteinmortuary.com. Contributions in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Sage Program, Congregation Beth Israel. The family wishes to extend appreciation to the staff of Brookdale Chatfield, Masonicare, caretakers Janet Sinclair and Karine Graham, and Drs. Edwin Fierer, Joel Silver and Vincent Romano.

I remember the wonderful time at the 50th anniversary that we Stoller sisters had. Lucky having parents around for so many years. Bob and I express our sincerest condolences to the entire Weinstein family.

I will really miss Mildred. She was such a wonderful member
of SAGE and we would always look forward to her blessing the
bread, just like Dr. Weinstein had in the past.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I shared many meals with her at Chatfield while visiting my mother. I was always impressed by her style and intellect. She was very kind to my mom. May her memory be a blessing.

Mildred was one of the people who welcomed me when I moved to the area and joined CBI a few years ago. She and Fayette often insisted I sit on their side of the table at Torah Study and clucked after me like extra grandmothers. Mildred was always annoyed when I picked up their books to return to the cart with mine as she wanted to carry it herself. She didn't always speak about the parsha but she had fascinating insights and information to impart when she did. A lovely lady and I will miss her.

Our entire family was saddened to hear of Millie's passing she has been in our thoughts for awhile . My Mom Ruth who spent so many years talking and sharing with Millie and David is very sad and will write a separate note. Millie always had a bright smile a twist of her head and would ask what's up with you . Her radiant warm seemed to always be there. Sending our love , thoughts and condolences with good memories.
