Milton

Stone

Obituary

Milton Stone, 89 years of age, of Newington, CT for over 40 years, passed away on August 12, 2010. He was pre-deceased by his wife Anne Cooper Stone. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bella (Hurwitz) Stone. Milton was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Buchanan during WWII. He worked for the Hartford Board of Education for over 20 years at the Annie Fisher School. He was most proud of serving as President of AFSME Union Local 566 in the 1970s, where he represented the men and women that helped make the public schools run. His big smile, tireless energy, and well known passion for a good argument will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves his son, Joseph Stone and his wife Diane Page Stone and two grandsons Isaac and Ethan, of Natick, MA; sisters Sylvia Wise of Bloomfield, Irene Balaban of Manchester, and Muriel Keiper and brother-in-law Richard Keiper of Bloomfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Milton was pre-deceased by sisters Gladys Waxman and Phyllis Dubrow, and a brother, Bernard Stone. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in the Workmen’s Circle Order Branch 15 Cemetery, Garden Street, Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
