Obituary

Miriam E. (Piaker) Glickstein, 86 years of age, of Avon, CT and formerly of Newington, CT, died April 29, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Arnold Glickstein. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Sarah (Schloss) Piaker. She was a dedicated, creative and widely admired elementary school teacher in the Newington Public School system for 20 years. She was an active member of the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom of Avon, CT and Congregation B’nai Sholom of Newington, CT. She leaves her sons, Marc Glickstein and his wife, Sylvie of South Glastonbury, CT, and Scott Glickstein and his wife Sydney Kase of Edina, MN, and her daughter, Lynne Alexander and her husband Stuart of Millstone Township, NJ, as well as seven cherished grandchildren, Jed Glickstein, Sophie Glickstein, Sam Glickstein, Lily Glickstein, Jacob Alexander, Emma Glickstein and Alyssa Alexander. Her family was her pride and joy and they all delighted in her company. She was a crackerjack Scrabble player, lover of antiques, great cook, and made friends wherever she went. Funeral services and interment will be held at 2 pm on May 2 at Congregation B’nai Sholom Memorial Park, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT, with Rabbi Howard Herman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.

My deepest condolences go out to the family. Even though I didn't know Miriam Piaker Glickstein, I know her daughter, Lynn Alexander. She raised a beautiful and caring daughter. Even though her passing is sad, you will remember the good times in the future. Her physical self may not be here but her soul and spirit will always be with you.
