Murray Foster, beloved husband of Selma (Harris) Foster for 59 years, died June 20, 2008 at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington, after valiantly struggling to combat multiple illnesses. Born October 20, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of David and Mary Foster. Mr. Foster was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the medical corp. He was a retired salesman from Eckart & Finard. A member of Temple Sinai, Newington, he was a past president of it?s Men?s Club, and member and past president of the West Hartford Regents. Murray was an avid animal lover who loved to entertain residents of nursing homes with his various therapy dogs. He also enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, and playing bridge; and much of his handiwork is visible in his home. Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother Chuck Foster and his wife Rosita of San Antonio, TX; a sister-in-law Carol Noyes and her husband Dennis Phelan of Bloomfield, a brother-in-law Seth Harris and his wife Beverly of Bloomfield; a very special niece Nancie Marinaro and her husband John of Marlboro, VT; a very special nephew Adam Harris and his wife Anna of Bloomfield, and many other nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved Bernese Mountain dog Galaxy. The family expresses its deep appreciation to the staffs of the Hebrew Home and Hospital, John Dempsey Hospital and Connecticut Hospice for their loving care of Murray. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. A Memorial Period will be observed at his home, 59 Walton Dr., West Hartford through Tuesday evening.
