TUMARKIN, Nancy (Birnbaum) Tumarkin, 52, of Peabody, MA, died Sunday, August 6, 2006. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of Myron B. and Lillian (Silver) Birnbaum of New Britain. Besides her parents she leaves two sisters, Iris Burkat and her husband Howard of Scarsdale, NY, and Joan Krasnoo and her husband James of Andover, MA. She also leaves nephews, Ethan and Paul Krasnoo and Oliver Silver Burkat. Nancy received her BA and MA Degrees from Boston University College of Fine Arts – School of Music where she studied cello with George Neikrug. She was a fine cellist, devoted teacher of beloved students, and performed professionally in the North Shore area of Boston, including Symphony by the Sea and numerous chamber groups. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Beth Alom Cemetery, Allen St., New Britain. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her parents through Friday evening. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Nancy B. Tumarkin Education Fund, Symphony by the Sea, P.O. Box 1425, Marblehead, MA 01945.
