Norman M. Grody, 83 years of age, of Bloomfield, CT, died on December 15, 2016. Norman was adopted, as an infant by the Goldman family of Windsor. They died in a tragic automobile accident and he was subsequently adopted by Anna and Samuel Grody of Hartford when he was 10 years old. After graduating high school Norman enlisted in the army during the Korean War and was stationed in Panama. After his military service he returned to Hartford and entered the furniture business. He acquired Comfort Bedding Company, which he built into a thriving business. Norman and his wife Joan travelled extensively. His favorite destination was safariing in Africa. Norman was a gifted athlete and stayed physically fit throughout his life. He loved the winters he spent in Florida fishing, boating, golfing and playing softball. He was a huge sports fan following the Boston Red Sox and New York Giants avidly. He was predeceased by his first wife Karen. Norman leaves his wife of 43 years Joan(Rosenbaum) children Cheryl (Missy) Henderson, Michael, Terri Mattran, 5 grandchildren Ryan, Sabrina, Danielle, Jenna, Donny and 3 great grandchildren, Hayley, Isabella and Jaydon.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, December 19 at Weinstein Mortuary. The family will be receiving after the service at The Rockledge Country Club, 250 South Main Street, West Hartford. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice .
