Born in Newport, RI on August 5, 1918, he had recently celebrated his 95th birthday with family and friends.
He served in World War II, landing in Normandy shortly after D-Day and was a recipient of the Medal of Good Conduct.
Along with his father, brother, sons and nephews he built General Building Supply Company into the foremost distributor of lumber and building supplies in Connecticut.
Paul was an avid golfer and belonged to Delaire Country Club, was a past member of Tumble Brook Country Club, and a founding member of Cliffside Country Club.
He was also a founding member of Beth El Temple.
As the patriarch of the Zieky family Paul will be most remembered for his generosity, honesty and kindness, despite being affectionately known as “Grumps.”
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Janet, his brother Phillip, and his sister Sylvia Fishberg.
He is survived by his children Nancy and Louis Green, Edward and Joan Zieky, and Jon and Elizabeth Zieky and his grandchildren Jamie and Michelle Green, Emily and Mickey Klein, Ashley Green, Andrew and Jessica Zieky, Michelle Zieky, Jacob, Connor, Alexander and Chase Zieky. The family would like to thank his caregiver Nikki Taylor, who made his life for the past five years so pleasant and comfortable.
Funeral services will be held at Weinstein Mortuary on Sunday March 2nd at Noon with interment at Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. The family will receive guests at the home of Nancy and Louis Green Sunday after the funeral until 8pm and Monday 1pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm.

My condolences to the Zieky family. Paul was such a nice man who will be missed by so many. I have many great memories of Paul enjoying his days at Tumble Brook CC. I hope that your wonderful memories will help you during this difficult time.
