Phyllys (Kelmenson) Luntz, 88 years of age, of West Hartford, CT, died Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was the widow of Dr. Lester L. Luntz. Born in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Sophie Kelmenson. An accomplished writer, Phyllys was the co-author with her husband of “The Handbook for Dental Identification: Techniques in Forensic Dentistry,” which continues to be the seminal work on the use of bite marks in criminal investigations. She was also published in Reader’s Digest and a number of newspapers, magazines and trade journals. She leaves two children, Dr. Frank Luntz of Las Vegas, NV, and Mona Luntz of West Hartford, CT; and her sister, Attorney Dorothy Kelmenson of West Hartford, CT.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 31, 2014, in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Rd., West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cleveland Clinic/Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health headquartered in Las Vegas.
