She leaves three daughters, Nancy Gitlin and her husband Richard, Donna Forsyth and her husband Robert, and Jill Bobrow; her sister, Marlene Warner and her husband Sanford, her sister-in-law Helen Shenker; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey and Carolyn Gitlin, David and Stephanie Gitlin, Michael and Kris Anne Gitlin, Alexa Forsyth, Sabrina Stedman as well as 9 great-grandchildren: Alexander, Melissa, William, Jack, Joe, Samantha, Wyatt, Sophie, and Max Gitlin. She also leaves 8 nieces and nephews: Alec Bobrow, David Bobrow, Roberta Prescott, Linda and Harold Gassenheimer, Jeri and Brian Berlin, Beth and Andy Field, Ronald and Mary Shenker, and Robert Shenker.
She was a charter member of Beth El Temple, West Hartford. She was a former president of The Connecticut Dental Society Auxiliary, former president of The Hartford Dental Auxiliary; member of Hadassah, founding member of the Cancer Society’s Key Biscayne chapter, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Woman’s Club of Key Biscayne. There are many people she has touched over the years with her sound advice, willingness to listen and generous donation of time and money to many causes and charities. She was an avid bridge player and never went empty handed to a dinner party.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson St. Extension, Avon. Following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Nancy and Richard Gitlin at 31 Mountain Farms Rd., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion Auxiliary, #374, c/o Marshall Byrum, 251 Crandon Blvd.,#1225, Key Biscayne, FL 33149 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
