She was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue of West Hartford.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves her children, Leslie F. Parskey of Farmington, Margaret J. Parskey and her husband Kevin McEntee of Los Angeles, CA, and Joseph W. Parskey and his wife Janet of Scituate, MA; her grandson Brian Katz, his wife Candace and their children Leah and Nathan; grandchildren Anna and Elisa McEntee, and Hal and Emma Parskey; her brother, Philip G. Schulman and his wife Betty of West Hartford. She was predeceased by her brother Leonard H. Schulman.
Rhoda was active in numerous religious organizations including Emanuel Synagogue, Hadassah and Youth Aliyah. When her children were in grade school she was active in the Bloomfield PTA and served as a Cub Scout troop leader. She was an accomplished painter and several of her paintings were displayed in juried art shows, winning at least one award. For many years she was an active member of the West Hartford Art League
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, February 22, 2013 in the Chapel of the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed from Saturday February 23 to Sunday February 24, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford. My thoughts are with you during this time. My parents Pearl and Morris Tonken were good friends of your parents. I remember them coming to our house with the Paultens. Certainly the house was not quiet as everyone had an opinion on a subject....good memories!!
