Richard Sheldon Eisenberg, 82 years of age, of Bloomfield, CT, died peacefully in his home on May 27, 2010. He was born and raised in the north end of Hartford, CT, where he later met the love of his life, Marion (Lefkin) Eisenberg. Dick attended Weaver High School and Ward School of Electronics at The University of Hartford. Dick was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated a Bloomfield gas station with his uncle, Ted Tobias, for 28 years. He also worked for PNA Industries and later worked for C&S Distributors, from which he retired after 20 years. Dick had many interests. He loved boating at Watch Hill, RI and spending time on the beach with his family. He looked forward to his weekly card games with his friends. Fishing was a favorite pastime, as was watching the Giants play football, (especially the Super Bowl of 2007) and UConn women’s basketball. He was an avid reader and enjoyed big-band music. Most of all, he was a devoted family man. His family considered him their biggest hero. When his wife, Marion, became ill, he took care of her at home, until her needs became too great to manage. He reluctantly placed her in a nursing facility and visited her every day, twice a day, to spend time with her and to feed her. He was faithful and unwavering in his devotion to her. Richard leaves behind his wife, Marion (Lefkin) Eisenberg of 56 years; daughter and son-in-law Genie and Russel Watsky of Ossining, NY, son and daughter-in-law William and Susan Eisenberg of West Simsbury, CT, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Dennis Jordan of Agawam, MA; and six grandchildren, Seth and Jonathan Watsky, Erica, Julie and Renee Eisenberg, and Jonathan Jordan. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Irving and Miriam Eisenberg. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
