Robert “Bob” Cushing was born in VA in 1947, son of the late Samuel and Rebecca (White) Cushing. Bob grew up in Bloomfield, CT, where he developed an interest in art and design which led him to a degree from the Paier School of Art. During his early years as an interior designer he worked for Friedman’s of Southport. Bob’s recognized ability as an A.S.I.D. designer led to his being hired about 1979 by the prestigious firm of Bernard Burge Interiors, located in Bethany, CT. There Bob developed a loyal clientele who became friends and family to him, and he saw to their design needs for the next 35 years. Following Mr. Burge’s death, Bob went out on his own as Cushing-Burge Interiors initially located in Woodbridge, CT. He later moved the business to his home. His remarkable design ability will be missed by many, as well as his friendship by many more. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 21, 2014 with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating at the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
