Robert Gersten, 73 years of age, of Tyler Lake Heights, Goshen, died Monday, March 12, 2012. Born March 13, 1938 in New Haven, he was the son of the late David and Faye (Levine) Gersten. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Robert had been a teacher at Masuc High School in Monroe, and upon retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher for ten years at Terryville High School. He was a member of the Beth El Synagogue of Torrington and the Emanuel Synagogue of West Hartford; also a Mason and Shriner. He leaves his wife, Marvis (Kaizer) Gersten; son Joseph Gersten and his wife Beth of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Gilah Gersten and Bryan Dooner of Bristol; brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Geraldine Kaizer, and sister-in-law Arlene Kaizer. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby with Rabbi Richard Eisenberg officiating. A memorial period will be observed at the home of his daughter, Gilah, 119 Rambler St., Bristol Wednesday, following the funeral through Monday.
