Robert S. Siskin, 92 years of age, died April 21, 2017. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather. A native of West Hartford, CT, he was the son of Samuel and Rhea (Bander) Siskin. His studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania were interrupted by his service in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, after that he returned to finish his degree in Economics. With his friend and business partner, Harold Shapiro, he founded Siskin, Shapiro & Company, which grew to be the largest private accounting firm in Connecticut before merging with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Robert was active in many philanthropic and professional organizations, and served as president of several, including Congregation Beth Israel, Mt Sinai Hospital, Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and Tumble Brook Country Club. After retirement he lived in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Pittsfield, MA. He was an avid tennis player into his eighties. He is survived by wife, Caryl; sons, Alan (Barbara) and Peter (Sarah); daughter, Mary (Phil) Mazonson; granddaughter, Leah Siskin Moz (Yasha) and grandson, Adam Siskin; Caryl’s children, Stuart (Pamela), Mindy, Cindy and grandchildren Owen and Reagan Baggish. Predeceased by his first wife Merlesue Rubin Siskin, granddaughter Sarah Lindsay Siskin and Jeffrey Baggish. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the Congregation Beth Israel Cemetery, 119 Affleck St. Hartford, CT with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Siskin Family Fund at Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
