Glassman

Obituary

Ronald V. Glassman, 74 years of age, of South Carolina, formerly of Connecticut and Colorado, died at home Sunday, February 9, 2014, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Green) Glassman. Ron graduated from Hall High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1961. After graduating, he went on to earn a master’s degree in education from the University of Hartford. Ron was a school teacher and salesman during his working career. As the family historian, he enjoyed spending time traveling and taking photographs. He traveled all over the U.S. and to many parts of the world; he was passionate about road trips with loved ones. He was also passionate about golf. Summer was Ron’s favorite time of year, and he spent many happy summers with family and dear friends at Lake Hayward.

He leaves his wife, Mary Ann (Cohen) Glassman; his three sons: David S. Glassman and his wife Kathy of Colchester, Andrew L. Glassman and his wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, FL, and Jonathan M. Glassman and his wife Gina of Arlington, VA; his brothers, Elliot Glassman and his wife Joan of Creve Coeur, MO, and Jerel Glassman and his wife Beth of San Francisco, CA, and four grandchildren: Anna, Nicholas, Tate, and Henry Glassman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2014 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in Temple Sinai Memorial Park, 41 West Hartford Rd., Newington. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at the Pond House in Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First Tee, St. Augustine, FL, a charity teaching life skills to underprivileged youth through learning golf.
