Ronald Woolwitch, born on August 16, 1930, of West Hartford, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford. Born in New York City, Ron was the son of the late Isabelle (Fineberg) Woolwitch and Saul Woolwitch. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Ron worked for a variety of companies, including: Beckenstein Enterprises, AT&T, the State of Connecticut, and the Hartford Courant. Ron received his bachelor’s degree from Earlham College and received his Master’s in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He educated and guided many Russian families as they first immigrated to this country, helping them with the English language, transportation, preparation for job interviews and numerous other daily activities. He treasured the friendships that grew from these relationships.
He leaves his wife Marion (Quint Levine) Woolwitch; three stepchildren, their spouses and six grandchildren: Barry Levine, his wife Carole and their children Daniel and Jessica of Canton, MI; Nancy Levine, her husband Steven Humphrey and their children Michael and Katherine of Warren, NJ; Alan Levine, his wife Joyce and their children Samantha and Matthew of Westwood, MA; six cousins: Jerome Brown, Stanley Brown, Mark Gorman, Stuart Gorman, Harold Lappin, and Marc Rhodes. Ron leaves his dog, Belle, a companion always at his side.
Private interment will be in the Beth Hillel Cemetery, East Granby on Sunday, December 5, 2010, with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. A memorial service will be held later at a date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, as Ron contributed to ACS in the memory of his mother, Isabelle Woolwitch, or to a place of your choice.
