Yellin

Obituary

Roslyn “Roz” Yellin of Delray Beach, FL, the daughter of David and Fannie (Beck) Levin of New Britain, CT, passed away at home in the presence of family on December 8. She was 95 years-old. Roz graduated from The Northfield School and enrolled at Russell Sage College, later transferring to Columbia University to complete her degree in Radio and Television Production. She served as the president of Jewish Children Services and was active in several other Jewish organizations throughout her life. She remained a member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford even after relocating to Florida. Roz became a dedicated supporter of Harc, a non-profit committed to helping individuals with intellectual and related disabilities, when her son, Michael, joined their board. She also strongly supported multiple organizations that help those with vision impairment and cancer. Roz was a Bronze Life Master bridge player and a talented stone sculptor. She was also a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer, and a voracious reader. When her eyesight deteriorated due to glaucoma, she began to devour audio books. She had a passion for politics during her last years and never missed the Rachel Maddow Show. Roz is survived by her daughter, Marlene Wilson of Raleigh, NC, her brother Ira Levin of West Hartford, CT, grandson Eric Wilson of New York, NY, granddaughter Stacey Wilson together with husband Robert Williamson of Portland, OR and her adored great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Williamson. Roz was predeceased by Robert, her devoted husband of 55 years, and her beloved son, Michael. A private graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, December 14 at Beth El Temple Cemetery with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Michael Yellin Endowment Fund at Harc, 900 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105 (www.harc-ct.org) or the Glaucoma Research Foundation, 251 Post Street, Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94108 Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT. Marlene, Ira, Eric, Stacey & family,
We are already missing Roz. She could see clearly with her heart. I feel blessed that we sat alongside each other at Beth El, and I love the many memories of our families together in celebration. Love you all so much.

Marlene, Stacy, Eric and Ira,
Roz and I spoke frequently.... the last time just a few weeks ago. Though I knew she had been ill, I was shocked to learn of her passing. We were good friends for over fifty years, and I shall miss her so much.
My sincere condolences to all of you... I know her passing will leave a void in your hearts.
