Obituary

STONE, Sheldon M. Sheldon M. Stone, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of the late Avis (Rome) Stone, died Sunday (November 14, 2010) after a long illness. Born on May 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Henry and Anna (Bronstein) Stone and brother of the late Bennett E. Stone. He graduated from Weaver High School and UCONN and was a long-standing member of the Agudas Achim Synagogue. He lived in Bloomfield for more than 50 years and worked as a production manager in the advertising industry with Graceman Advertising, Fox Press, and Lowengard and Brotherhood. After his retirement he started his own design and consulting business, Pro-Ad, Inc. He was a skilled artist and craftsman who was known for his stained glass boxes. He loved to garden, spend time at the ocean, read history, collect art, and watch UCONN basketball. He was devoted to his wife of 57 years and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ellen “Elena” Stone and Tom Rawson of Cambridge, MA, Aren Stone and Mary Ann Kowalski of Cambridge, MA, David Stone and Karen Stone of Southington, and Jennifer Stone and Bob Pirrie of Storrs. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Eli Kowalski, Adam Stone, Isabel Rawson-Stone, Miles Stone, Casey Stone-Pirrie, and Maribel Rawson-Stone. He is also survived by many lifelong friends and loving family members.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, (November 18), at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in Knesseth Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Ellington. Family and friends are invited to the home of Jerald and Sandra Rome, 63 Lovelace Dr., West Hartford following the interment, through Thursday evening. Ellen & Aren and families...I so remember all the walks up in the "fields" by your house while the neighborhood was being built. It was such a wonderful time and place to grow up in, so many children in the neighborhood and safe and simple times. May the memories of your father live on in your hearts forever.
