Sherwin Morton (Shep) Schloss, 81, of Mt. Lebanon, PA, formerly of West Hartford, CT passed away in PA on February 20, 2015. Born in Hartford, CT on December 6, 1933, Shep was the son of the late Samuel and Fay (Perlman) Schloss. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Selma (Pisetsky) Schloss. He was a loving father to three children, Michael (Sharon) Schloss, of Unionville, CT; Renee (David) Metsch, of North Andover, MA; and Laura (Brian) Davidson, of Mt. Lebanon, PA; and an adored grandfather to six grandchildren: Michelle, Stephanie, Benjamin, Maxwell, Sarah, and Benjamin. He is also survived by his sister, Gail (Schloss) Gold, of Bloomfield. Shep was a 38-year resident of West Hartford.
After graduating from Weaver High School in 1952, he attended University of Connecticut (Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity). Shep married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis, in 1957. They raised their family in West Hartford while Shep worked as a nuclear engineer for ABB (formerly Combustion Engineering). Shep was an avid sports enthusiast, and loved to play tennis and basketball. He was a huge fan of college basketball and faithfully followed and cheered on the UConn Huskies.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:30 am in the Chapel at Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave, West Hartford, CT. Interment will follow in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson St. Ext., Avon, CT. A Memorial Period will be observed immediately following the interment, and continuing Monday and Tuesday evenings at 6 pm with services at 7:30, at the home of Michael and Sharon Schloss, 4 Virginia Lane, Unionville, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beth El Temple or Temple Emanuel, 1250 Bower Hill Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
