Shirley (Neiditz) Abel, 92 years of age, of West Hartford, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015. She was the widow of Sidney H. Abel. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Max and Esther (Nahum) Neiditz. She leaves her children, Lewis Abel and his wife Lynar of Pacific Palisades, CA, and Susan Maki and her husband John of Sterling, MA; her sister, Hinda Fisher of West Hartford; her brother, Machelle Neiditz of West Hartford; her sister Cipah Shapiro of Burlington, Ct.; three grandchildren, Mickey Brown, Stacey Holmes and Bree Abel Rotter and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Herman Neiditz. Shirley’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She took pride in her grandchildren’s accomplishments. She loved clothes and shopping and was an avid traveler. She volunteered at SummerWood, calling bingo for a number of years. She was a volunteer for the Cancer Society , as well as the Hebrew Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating.
