After the war, Sidney was employed by Hamilton Standard as an aerodynamicist and attended law school at night. It was at that time he met and married his wife, Beatrice. Sidney graduated the University of Connecticut School of Law and passed the CT Bar exam just after the birth of their first son in 1951. Following his acceptance to the Connecticut Bar, Sidney became Corporate Counsel for his wife?s uncle, Louis B. Rogow, President of Birken Manufacturing Company. With Sid?s knowledge of law and degree in engineering, he ultimately became a partner with Lou Rogow in developing Birken and moving it from its original Franklin Avenue location in Hartford to its present location in Bloomfield, CT. Louis Rogow ultimately retired, allowing Sidney to buy the company from him. In addition to building up Birken, Sidney and his family created such companies as Lucid Manufacturing, Aircraft Components and Fasteners, and General Plasma Associates. As his children joined him in his efforts, they worked together to create the Rogow-Greenberg Foundation, GFP Realty, Turbine Controls, Inc., and TC Power. Aside from his involvement in the aerospace industry, Sidney also found time to enjoy golf and tennis with his family and friends, as well as serve on boards and committees such as CT Bank & Trust, Cliffside Country Club as President, Israel Bonds as Chairman, the Jewish Federation; Greater Hartford Easter Seals and other charitable causes. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, Beth El Temple, Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation, Agudas Achim Synagogue, United Synagogue and Chabad House. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Beatrice (Schneider) Greenberg; two sons, Gary S. Greenberg and his wife, Joan of Bloomfield, and Glen R. Greenberg and his wife Debra of Avon; a daughter, Mimi Greenberg of West Hartford; five grandchildren: Adam, Alex, Elizabeth, Lauren and Jeffrey Greenberg; and a sister, Bernice Buder and her husband Frederick of Bloomfield. He was predeceased by a son, Todd S. Greenberg. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, with Rabbi Stephen Fuchs officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at his home in West Hartford from Sunday, May 27 following the service, through Tuesday, May 29.
