Born in Hartford, he earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University in 1938 and served as a lieutenant, junior grade, in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford.
He began his career in the US government with the USINS Border Patrol in 1940 along the Canadian border and rose to serve as Deputy District Director for Investigations in the Northeast Region, lecturing at several police training academies in the Northeast as well as the JFK School of Government.
He was very much appreciated in the community for his willingness to meet and help with immigration problems at nights and on weekends. When he retired he was the only Caucasian member of the Chinese Merchants Association in Boston.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:30 AM at The Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson Street Extension, Avon, CT with Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
