POVERMAN, Simon Poverman, 92, passed away peacefully on January 20, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Charles and Goldie Poverman. For 59 years he was married to Shirley Tuck Poverman, the love of his life. They had two children-Jim Poverman of Eugene, Oregon, and Linda Eisenberg of West Hartford for whom he was a wonderful role model and best friend. He loved watching his Red Sox with his son-in-law Shel Eisenberg and always looked forward to traveling to Oregon for his favorite banana creme pie made by his daughter-in-law Pamela Griffin. He shared his love of golf and his life experiences with his grandsons, Matthew Eisenberg, Brian Poverman, and Adam Poverman. And he loved taking his granddaughters, Wendy Eisenberg, Jennifer Eisenberg, and Janice Alpert to Broadway shows and art museums. The greatest joy of his last year was the birth of his great granddaughter, Sophia Alpert. He also leaves his sister-in-law Ruth Dorfman and his brother-in-law Bob Tuck and loving nieces and nephews. After serving in the army in World War II, he returned to Hartford and established his real estate management agency, which he maintained until his retirement. He was a member of the board of the West Hartford Housing Authority until the age of 90. He was also a member of Congregation Beth Israel and the West Hartford Regents.
