Sonia Richman Ghertler, 97, of West Hartford, formerly of Providence, R.I., died quietly on .Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 at the Hebrew Home and Hospital in West Hartford. She was predeceased by husbands Harry Richman and Armand Ghertler as well as many sisters and brothers who died during the holocaust. She was a member of Hadassah, Women Pioneer, Woman’s Choral Group at the J.C.C. and was a member of Temple Emanuel in Prov. and the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. She enjoyed bridge, MahJong, singing, entertaining, and being with family. She is survived by daughter Elaine Raisner and husband Harvey and son, Sidney Richman and wife Adele. She leaves grandchildren Bruce Raisner and wife Carolyn;, Adam Raisner and wife Anne ; Beth Glass, and husband Michael;, Lisa Schwarzwald and husband Sam;, Lynne Olson and husband Steve ;, Susan Richman, Karen Richman, and Stacy Johnson and husband Paul.. She also leaves great grandchildren Olivia and Andrew Raisner, Jonah and Nate Raisner, Will and Luke Glass, Zachary Schwarzwald, Sara and Eric Olson, Ewan Johnson, and nephew Irving Gelman and niece Ruth Ostrove. Grave side service will be held in Brockton, Mass. On Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 11:30 AM at the Plymouth Rock Cemetary. Memorial period will be observed at home of Elaine Raisner, 32 Mallard Drive, Avon Ct.from Wednesday through sundown on Friday.
