Sylvia

Amols

Obituary

Sylvia (Cohen) Amols, 91, died in Hartford Hospital on March 15, 2014. Pre-deceased in 2010 by her husband of 63 years, Mervyn, Sylvia is survived by her daughter Janice Curley of Worcester, MA; daughter Lisa Amols of West Tisbury, MA; and daughter Nancy Gingras and her husband Brian of Eastford, CT; and grandchildren Adam Curley, Russell and Rachel Schubert, and Corey and Shay Gingras. Born and raised in Brookline, MA, Sylvia lived in Windsor, CT for the last 54 years, where she and Merv raised their family. They were passionate New York Mets fans and spent many winters traveling to the Mets’ spring training camp in Florida before health issues no longer allowed them to make the trip. Sylvia also was an avid bridge player and reader. She worked at several part-time jobs over the years, but as Merv’s job with Capitol Records took him on the road each week, her primary role was as wife and mother. Additionally, she helped countless people through her association with Gam-Anon, where she was a valued and trusted friend and confidante. At Sylvia’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services; arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia’s name may be sent to the Windsor Public Library, 323 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095. The family would like to thank Eunice Anim, who was Sylvia and Merv’s devoted caregiver in their final years.

To the Family.

I am sorry for the lost of your family member and dear friend. I have an encouraging message that I would like to share with you from God’s Word the Bible.

Like many people we all want to live and enjoy life with the ones we have lost to this aged-old-enemy death. Sadly, though because of health issues, injustice, crimes and old age we have to suffer the pain when ones fall asleep in death.

In the Bible at John 5:28,29 Christ Jesus states that all those in the memorial tombs (graves) will hear his voice and come out. These ones according to Psalm 37:11 will be resurrected right here on the earth.

The Bible also gives us comfort and hope at Revelation 21:3-5 which assures us that the day is soon to come in which our Heavenly Father is going to wipe away the tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will be no more.

I hope that after reading this that it will be of comfort to each of you.
