GOLDENBERG, Sylvia (Nassau) Goldenberg, 83 years of age, of West Hartford died Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was the widow of Dr. Irwin Goldenberg. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Anna (Rome) Nassau. Sylvia graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford and Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She was a caring and compassionate person. She had been a past president of the local chapter of Women?s American ORT. She had been an avid bowler and at one time she had won the State Mother-Son Bowling Tournament with her son Scott. She enjoyed cooking and at one time she had won the Better Homes and Gardens ?Recipe of the Month? Award. She also had been highly skilled and generous at knitting gifts for many family members. She leaves two sons, Bruce I. Goldenberg of West Hartford, and Scott M. Goldenberg and his wife Peggy of Wylie, TX; a sister, Marilyn Goldberg and her husband Louis of West Hartford; four grandchildren, Gregory Goldenberg, Sabrina LeBeau and her husband Ken, Grace Goldenberg, and David Goldenberg; and a great-granddaughter, Faith LeBeau. She also leaves her in-laws, Gloria Goldenberg, Dr. Arnold and Bernice Goldenberg, and Saul and Frances Reichlin; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews including a special fondness for her niece, Sharon Schreiber.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. The family will receive relatives and friends at her home, 47 High Wood Rd., West Hartford, Wednesday following the funeral through Wednesday evening.
