Terry (Bacharach) Cohen, 64, cherished wife of 41 years to Alan M. Cohen, passed away in her home on Sunday, March 25, 2012, after a courageous four-year battle with leukemia, with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her beloved children, Jennifer Bucari and her husband, Louis Jr. of West Hartford, Jonathan S. Cohen, of Westerly, Rhode Island, her dear sister, Sally Bacharach of South Windsor and was the adored “Grammy” to her grandchildren, Caitlyn and Caroline Bucari. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law: Marlene and Jim Febeo and Debbie and Phil Hale, all of Rocky Hill, as well as her caring niece and nephews, Karen Febeo of Boston, MA, Jim Febeo, Jr. of Boston, MA, David Hale of Manchester, CT and Jason Hale of Providence, R.I., and many, many loving friends. Born in Hartford, she was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Eleanor (Simons) Bacharach, Jr. Her family was among the original charter members of Congregation Beth Israel. Terry’s passion for Judaism made her a true matriarch, teaching her family and all of those around her the true meaning of family, tradition, love, kindness, generosity, and compassion. She also truly loved the beach and spending her summers with her family and friends at Crescent Beach in Niantic. Terry will be loved and missed forever. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Bona and Andrea Morin as well as the staff at UConn Medical Center for their empathy, care, and support.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery, Jackson St. Ext., Avon.
