Thelma (née Dolinger) Ratner died early in the morning on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Born
November 27, 1929, in Scranton, PA. Thelma moved to Hartford, CT with her mother and
brother in 1951, which is where she met and married the love of her life, Jerry. Together they
moved to Windsor, CT. to raise their four children before ultimately retiring in Florida.
Thelma, who went by Tomi, was an avid and competitive golfer and tennis player as well as a
skilled sculptor and artist. Tomi enjoyed spending summers at her beach cottage in Old
Saybrook, CT, playing mah-jongg with friends, regaling her grandchildren with tales of the
family dog, Shooby, and teaching them to play rummy Q and other card games, watching movies
on the beach and playing bingo at the clubhouse.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Jerome (Jerry) Ratner, as well as her cherished brother
Sheldon Dolinger and half siblings, Al Dolinger, Milton Dolinger and Rose Valenzo. Tomi
leaves her four children to treasure her memory, Stuart (Lori) Ratner of Stamford, CT, Lynn Buff
of Rockville, MD, Eric (Valerie) Ratner of Fairfield, CT and Jeffrey (Debbie) Ratner of Avon,
CT, as well as her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. May her memory always be for a
