Obituary

Wallace Gitberg of Windsor, beloved husband of the late Myrna (Wood) Gitberg, died Thursday, March 8th, 2018. He was born in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Jacob and Sadie Gitberg. A graduate of American International College, he ran several companies. For over 30 year, along with his partner and friend, he owned and operated Hartford Element. He was an active member of Congregation Beth Ahm in Windsor, where he served as treasurer for many years, and was a current member of Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield. He leaves behind his sons, Steven and his wife Jennifer of Windsor and Michael and his wife Penny of Granby; two grandchildren, Emilee and Eric Gitberg; his sister, Ruth Perlmutter of Santa Monica, CA and many friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ann Marie and Karen, for the loving care they provided. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Road, East Granby. A memorial period will be observed at the home of his son, Michael, 6 Halwood Drive, Granby through Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Hospital Foundation, 95 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105. I lived in Blue Hills for five decades, and learned how helpful Wally and his partner could be in keeping things humming. They were superbly knowledgeable and helpful; I almost felt bereft when they finally closed the shop. Wonderful service, wonderful people. Rest in peace, Wally.
