Wendy Robin Ennis, teacher, journalist, beloved mother, daughter, spouse, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, died Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 27, 1967 in the Bronx, Wendy won a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to the School of Visual Arts. She was a reporter/producer for WOR radio, Visnews, Reuters, CBS Newspath, WTSP-TV and Consumer Reports Television before pursuing her masters in education at the University of St. Joseph. A resident of West Hartford for a dozen years, Wendy taught in Newington and was a special education teacher at Sedgwick and King Philip Middle Schools in West Hartford. She also taught religious education at Congregation Beth Israel’s Youth Engagement Program. She leaves a mother, Deborah, a brother, Robert, a spouse, Dawn, and their children Sean, Sophie and Liam. A scholarship is being established to further their higher education. The funeral at Congregation Beth Israel 701 Farmington Av., West Hartford will be at noon Friday. Interment will follow at Beth Israel cemetery in Hartford. The family will sit Shivah at the Hyatt in Windsor, 200 Corporate Drive Sat. 5-9 pm, Sun. 1-4 pm & 6-9 pm, Mon. 5-9 pm with a service each evening at 7 pm.
