Bill graduated from Central CT State University with a Marketing Degree. He went on to pursue his passion for golf as an instructor of women and children. Bill was as big a fan of Frank Sinatra as the New York Yankees. His positive attitude and ever-present interest in how others were doing, even during times of struggle, made him a truly unique man and role model.
He leaves a son, Brett H. Rubin of Atlanta, GA, daughter-in-law Laurie and grandson Zachary and a daughter, Lisa Rubin Levin of Woburn, MA and son-in-law Jonathan. Bill was previously married to Marilyn Golden Byer for 25 years and leaves behind loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Debra and Gerry Barker, Adrienne and Alan Silver and Roxanne Fried, father-in-law Milton Golden, along with a host of loving cousins, nephews and nieces. A heartfelt thank you to his long-time loving caretakers Cindy Macrae and Gloria Congdon and to New Horizons Village, the amazing pet therapy teams and friends who came for visits over the years, Interim Nursing and Hospice and the Hebrew Health Care.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 21st at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT. Following the service, the family will be accepting visitors at the home of Donald and Robbin Golden at 52 Parsons Drive in West Hartford until 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hebrew Health Care online or at 860.523.3994. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford. I was so sad to hear of Bill's passing. He was a warm and caring person, quick to smile. I have many memories from the brief time I lived with Marilyn and Bill in Hartford and family events.
Bret and Lisa, I know the sadness in loosing a parent and my heart goes out to you. My mother always had a special place in her heart for Bill.

As a past wine manager for the old Brescome Distributors in South Windsor, I had frequent contact with Bill.
I worked with him many times on his route, and besides liking him as an individual, I'll always remember him asking what he could do to help me reach my company quotas. An unusual request from a comission sales person. To me, personally, he was a "mench".
Rest in peace my friend.

I'm so sad to hear of Billy's passing, he was a wonderful , loving, funny man.I remember the day he escorted me down the isle at Debby's wedding saying if he fell he knew i could pick him up!Thankfully that never happened. His love for his children and the pride in his eyes when he spoke of of them was evident.
I know he will be missed by all that knew him.
Best, Michele

To Bill's family: my heartfelt condolences to you on the passing of my Wethersfield High School classmate. For our 50th class reunion, Bill was with us in spirit. I remember him from a very young age -- Bill was an exemplary person with a huge heart.
